Questions
Is a tokenized stock backed by a real share?
Yes. Each token is backed one to one by a share held with Alpaca, a regulated broker and custodian. It tracks the share's price and cash dividends turn into more shares through a multiplier.
Do I need a Coinbase account?
No. A wallet on Base is enough to buy, hold, send or sell one. KYC applies only to the issuer's own mint and redeem.
What does the c in NVDAc mean?
It tells the token apart from the share: NVDAc is Coinbase's tokenized NVIDIA share on Base.
Where do tokenized stocks trade?
On Aerodrome and through routers such as 0x, 1inch, KyberSwap and CoW Swap. On Gifted Stock you can buy and sell them with USDC, several in one transaction.
Can I hold tokenized stocks in the US?
No. Coinbase tokenized stocks are not offered to US persons and they are not available everywhere else either.
