Gifted Stock

FAQ

General

What is Gifted Stock?

A mystery box that pays out real stock on Base. Buy a sealed box for $0.10, open it and win a random amount of a tokenized stock, or send it to a fren. You can also buy and sell stocks from your profile, and join campaigns to win free boxes.

Who built this?

Gifted Stock is built by Ali Tiknazoglu, an onchain builder and product guy who consults for projects across ecosystems. He previously co-founded Inflynce, an onchain advertising protocol on Base. Questions, problems or feedback are all welcome, so feel free to reach out on X or Telegram.

What's inside a box?

A random amount of a tokenized stock, like NVIDIA, Apple, Amazon, Alphabet or Meta. How much you get comes from the odds table, valued at the live market price when you open. The stock goes straight to your wallet.

What is a tokenized stock?

A share of a real company, issued by Coinbase as a token on Base. One token tracks one share, and it sits in your wallet like any other token. Tokenized stocks aren't available in US and some other countries, so make sure you're allowed to hold them where you live.

How is the prize decided?

When you open a box, an outside service creates a random number that nobody can see in advance, not you and not us. That number picks your prize from the odds table and which stock you get - fully onchain randomness powered by Pyth Network. Every step is public on Basescan.

Can I lose money?

Yes. Some boxes are worth more than you paid and some are worth less. The odds table shows every prize, its chance and the average payout, and the contract enforces it.

What does it cost to buy and open a box?

A box costs $0.10 in USDC. Opening costs $0.05 in ETH, the same whether you open 1 box or 10, and it pays for the random number. Each transaction also has a small network fee, usually under a cent. Nothing is taken from your prize.

What happens to a box I never open?

A sealed box lasts one year. After that it expires and pays nothing. Your profile shows how many days each box has left.

Can I gift a box to a fren?

Yes. From your profile you can send up to 100 sealed boxes at a time to any wallet. Your fren opens them and keeps whatever is inside. A sealed box is a normal NFT, so it can also be traded on NFT marketplaces. Once a box is opened, it can't be moved.

Can I buy and sell stock here?

Yes, in your profile's Portfolio tab, you can sell the stocks you hold for USDC or buy any of 10 stocks with USDC. Pick several and it all happens in one transaction through Aerodrome. A small 1% fee applies to each trade.

Which wallets can I use?

Any wallet installed in your browser shows up when you connect, like Coinbase Wallet, MetaMask, Phantom or Rabby. On a phone, use WalletConnect or open the site inside your wallet app. Gifted Stock runs on Base, and your wallet is asked to switch to Base if it's on another network.

Where is the money, and is it safe?

It stays onchain in the contract, not in anyone's account: the USDC from box sales plus the stock it buys. The contract can't pay out more than it holds, and no single prize can be worth more than a quarter of the pool. We can only take out what's left after every unopened box is covered. The contracts are verified on Basescan, and the Vault page shows every holding live.

Campaigns

What is a campaign?

A giveaway run by a project. The project puts up boxes as prizes and sets a few simple tasks. Do the tasks, then either you're in a raffle drawn when the campaign ends, or - in a first come, first served campaign - you claim your boxes on the spot until they run out.

How do I join one?

Open a campaign from the Campaigns page, connect your wallet and complete each task, like visiting a link, holding an NFT or token, or opening boxes. When every task is done, join with one signature. It's free and costs no gas. You'll see "you're in" on the campaign card once you've joined.

How are winners picked?

In a raffle, at random after the campaign ends: every wallet that joined gets one entry, so doing more doesn't raise your chances, and if a task asks you to hold a token you still need to hold it at the end. In a first come, first served campaign there's no draw: whoever finishes the tasks and claims first gets the boxes, one claim per wallet.

How and when do winners get their boxes?

Automatically. Raffle winners get theirs about two hours after the campaign ends; a first come, first served claim arrives within a minute. Either way you'll see a popup on the home page. They're normal sealed boxes: open them, keep them or gift them.

How can I run a campaign?

Reach out to me on X or Telegram and I'll set up your project's page. Then you create campaign yourself: tasks, how many winners, how many boxes each and dates, up to 30 days. You pay for boxes in USDC on Base, at $0.10 a box with a 500-box minimum. Boxes that aren't won go back to your prize pool for your next campaign.
